Zephire Generation is taking the Australian children’s wear market by storm.
With humble beginnings in the bustling Queen Victoria markets of Melbourne, Zephire Generation now distributes to a flourishing network of over 60 retailers in Australia and New Zealand; something head designer, Fabio Cattafi attributes to the brand’s universal market appeal.
“Our designs are proudly inspired by the social tapestries of multicultural Australia, and reflect a truly international appeal and quality. The collection offers classically cut, modern designs, premium quality fabrics and hand-detailed appliqués and finishes.”
Zephire Generation prides itself on designing trans-seasonal and transcontinental collections; and, with a growing market that sees customer orders coming from as far afield as Spain, Ireland and Japan, it is not surprising demand for the label is booming in Australia.
Regularly featured in some of the country’s leading children’s magazines, and with sales figures that continue to strengthen year after year, the demand for Zephire Generation is without question. Cattafi is currently in discussions with Austrade to explore formal distribution opportunities for the label in London and further afield.
Born in Australia to Italian parents, Cattafi it seems has always been destined for international success. An accomplished dancer and choreographer, he has performed all over the world and appeared in numerous Broadway hits and with many well-known Australian musicians. Cattafi’s true love, however, has always been fashion and, in 2005, his vision for Zephire Generation came to fruition with a collection of sophisticated and edgy street wear for boys and girls.
Zephire Generation’s most recent collection – winter 2009 – is, in a word, glamorous. Inspired by movie star glamour and the rich earthiness of forests in winter, the range reflects traditional European elegance and multicultural Australia. Drawing on beautiful, layered fabrics the collection offers everything from military style jackets to fluffer dresses for girls, with the gorgeous appliqués and detail. Zephire Generation is renowned for, making a return. Colourful, quirky accessories add extra appeal. For boys a funky, edgy, coolfor-school look has emerged, again with strong layering and funky accessories. The doom and gloom of winter gives way to vibrant greens, reds and purples.
